We proudly sell mainly Iowa produced foods at Henry’s. We support local farmers, cheese makers, soap makers, and spinners. Many of our best sellers are just that, locally produced products found only here at Henry’s.
Milton Creameryis located in Milton Iowa and is run by Rufus, Jane and their family. We sell 8 of their handmade cheeses. The most popular flavors are: colby, cheddar chive & prairie rose.
Rehberg’s Pork located just north of Cedar Rapids. Their hog genetics are far from the ordinary. Outdoor raised, with no added hormones or antibiotics. We met Dennie Rehberg at last year’s Amana Farmers Market and soon started selling many of the products he produces. We love the white old fashioned lard!
Happle’s Organic Pies are made in upper South Amana 6 miles from our store. Happles is the first all-organic pie producer and their pie can be found far and wide. If you are looking for a real treat just slip one of their pies in the oven and enjoy!
Farmers All Natural Dairyin Welman Iowa supplies us with farm fresh organic milk and cheese from the Amish country side, just south of the Amanas. Their chocolate milk is, in my opinion, the BEST IN THE WORLD
Jeanne’s Soapsare some of the most outstanding soaps produced today. With many years of experience with making soaps, Jeanne has found some wonderful combinations such as: Rosemary Mint & Basil Citrus.
Paul’s Grains outside Kellogg, Iowa produces many grains for us at Henry’s. From steel cut oats to coarse milled corn meal, all of Paul’s Grains are chemical free and small batch ground right on the farm . They also produce grass fed beef jerky that has become a local favorite.
Our Hill Top Farm just down rt6 in Ladora, Iowa supplies us with the most flavorful chicken you’ll ever eat. Raised outside and fed natural grains you can’t go wrong taking one home today.

garlic radishes and spinach outside the store
Farmers Market In Amana will begin on May 29th and go tel September 4th in the old stables in the main village of Amana. Henry’s will again be vending on Fridays from 4-7pm. We sell mainly our own product from hand made breads to goat milk soap and of course our produce–grown mostly at our home in West Amana & at our store located in Homestead. Come early and stay late with live music most weeks and fresh made food from the grills. We also will be grilling a number of fridays the year. Last year our handmade bratwurst and frickedellan accompanied by our garden fresh red cabbage salad excited the crowd. Hope to see you there!

in the process of fixing the new room up
With in weeks we will be expanding our retail space. We started late last year with help from a local carpenter to jack up the ceiling and place a old timber in the middle of the room. Then the months long tasks of leveling and upgrading the electrical. Drywall was next and tape and mud soon followed. Then three to four coats of paint, trim and some touch ups. We have had lots of help from friends and family alike. The new room will house our expanded bulk foods selection, herbs and spices, and locally made gifts. The decor, with help from another local, will involve old hand made farm implements from the Amana past and other beautiful antiques.

looking down of flats of seedlings in the greenhouse
This year we got started planting seeds in the greenhouse on Feb 17th. In years past we have tried starting earlier with mixed results. When we started on Jan15th two years ago i spent many nights cold and alone trying to keep the wood stove hot enough to allow seed to sprout. I found that waiting a few more weeks didn’t seem to set us back, for when it is just 10* warmer the plants grow that much faster. With in the next 2 months we plan on having over 8000 seedlings started and ready for the transplant process to our gardens. We also sell many starter plants at Henry’s for our customers gardens. We will offer many more herbs plants this year than years past. We are proud of the plants and seeds we sell. Most of the seed we use and sell are grown by small farms. We have many return customers for our unique plants in the spring time.

This winter has been a true learning experience for me. We (friends of mine and I) installed a new boiler at the store. This is not just a boiler, it is also a step towards the future. This boiler is a multi fuel boiler, the fuel we have decided to use is used veggie oil. We sell to a number of restaurants and pick up their used fryer grease. The boiler is made by a German company and the burner is made in Wisconsin by inov8.
- it is orange, by brother karls color
We also use this oil to power one of our cars and soon another one will be on line. In the spring, summer and fall we mix used filtered veggie oil with regular deisel fuel.
